Fantazzmo: What Rock band can sell out for nights at a 16,000 seat venue in 2011?
Could Metallica, U2, Muse, or the Rolling Stones do it? How about the Eagles, Green Day, or a reunited Pink Floyd? Van Halen almost did it in 2007, I should know I went to 3 of the shows.
I live in Los Angeles, CA; home of the Lakers, Hollywood, and if California was an independent country, it would be the 8th largest economy in the world. There is a band called "Mana" from Guadalajara, Mexico that is currently at the Staples Center in Los Angeles playing night one of their four night appearance here.
What does this say about the state of music in Los Angeles, or the country for that matter. Are all the shows really sold out? Does it matter how much radio airplay they get? How long have they been around?
Whatever it is Mana is doing, they are doing it right. They have a loyal following that has been there for them for over 20 years. I don't know much about the band, I like a few of their tunes; but what they are doing these four days is definitely worth striving for.
