Fantazzmo: Magic is being made now!

Fantazzmo:  Magic is being made now!

The words, the songs, the music, the feeling, the cut, the love, the passion, it's all happening now just as it has always happened in music.  There is magical music being created, thought of, being inspired, being recorded right now.

Do we have a present day Jimi Hendrix,  Led Zeppelin, or Doors?  Maybe, maybe not.  Maybe we would not know what to listen for, or maybe they can't break through.  Maybe the gatekeepers to all media have ignored them thinking they would not be a viable commodity in today's musical climate and have overlooked them for a puberty aged act that might generate a quick buck or two.  Maybe the market is so saturated with crap, that they are kept underground.

The question is, does the magic have an outlet for the world to hear and take notice?  Are the portals for great music congested with an infinite amount of garbage accumulated by those with the means to do so for their personal financial gain?... The "connected?"  Or are the portals clogged by those jaded individuals trying to cash in on the next "big thing;"  and thus confusing consumers with  comical, yet meaningless, soulless, unseasoned acts.  Maybe there are other reasons.

If the Rolling Stones were starting out now, would they break through?  If Black Sabbath was starting out now, would they break through?  Phil Collins mentioned recently that if he, a short bald man with an annoying voice (not a direct quote, just a paraphrase & no disrespect intended) would have started his career now, he does not believe he would have been successful at all.

I was watching one of my favorite cable TV shows recently and heard an amazing song, I don't know the artist, I don't know the name of the song, but thanks to the Internet, I will find out.  Magic is happening and being created in music today.  In order to capture it for our listening pleasure, we must seek it out when we get a gentle glimpse of it's presence.

My album, Fantazzmo 1:  Enter the Fantazz has had nothing but great reviews by all who have heard it, I am biased, it's my creation, but I know it's magic!

You be the judge, and if you agree...the name is    FANTAZZMO....spread the word!

Fantazzmo: The Modern Musician

Fantazzmo:  The Modern Musician

It would be awesome to learn and create music all day, then perform every night!  That is the dream my friends, (along with earning a great living!) but the reality is much different.  The modern musician must do so much more and wear so many different hats, such as:

Musician
Promoter
Investor
IT specialist
Customer Service Rep
Media Supervisor
Businessman
CEO
Designer
Video Director/Producer
Publicist
Manager
...and so much more

In order to thrive in today's musical climate, the modern musician must wear many hats very well, if not they will not succeed.  It is a wake up call, but if you want to swim with the big fish, you've gotta jump in the water and take a couple of knocks once in a while or wind up food for the fall by the wayside.

As soon as you can afford to get a team together, do it!  Something has to give, there are only so many hours in a day.  You can get definitely get the ball rolling, but eventually your music or band have to attract people that believe in it and are willing to help.  At first this will be family and friends, then eventually it will be professionals or people with a background in the music industry and its various components.

Even with a team, you must act as CEO and hold everyone accountable.

Just like AC/DC sang, "It's a long way to the top if you wanna Rock N Roll."

Fantazzmo 1: Enter the Fantazz -Campus Circle CD Review

Music: CD Reviews

Fantazzmo: Fantazzmo I: Enter the Fantazz

(Supernova)

Fantazzmo is the stage name of guitarist/vocalist Sergio Bedolla and what an attention-getting handle it is. The name indicates that what waits in the musical presentation is glamorous and magical, and to an extent Fantazzmo provides exactly that.

Opening cut “Superman” is a naughty, strutting assertion of masculine prowess set to a funky fusion of Prince, Jimi Hendrix and any number of rap-rockers. “I Know You’re Mine” is a poppy rocker that gives Green Day a run for their money while “Drown Your Lies,” “Fear in Me” and a couple other tunes are derived from Britpop and lean toward Oasis.

Not like they are the originators of the sound, but “She Really Likes It” is blues the way the White Stripes do it – a simple but persistent drum beat, stinging guitar riffing, a slinky vocal and ultimately, a guitar solo freak-out (If you wonder about Fantazzmo’s ax-slinging ability, just listen to this.). For “We Are Waiting For You” Fantazzmo sets his guitar to “psychedelic” with a little Spaghetti Western theme music thrown in; the result is downright eerie, like the Meat Puppets waiting for the Martians to land. Fantazztic.

Grade: B

FANTAZZMO 1: ENTER THE FANTAZZ -Press Quotes

1: ENTER THE FANTAZZ

"Diversity is the name of the game as he combines genres and instrumentation to come up with something both familiar and fresh. One thing’s for sure though, whether it’s with a powerful vocal, a blistering guitar solo or just a unique instrumental blend, Fantazzmo will grab your attention one way or another."
– MY SO-CALLED SOUNDTRACK
"This is one helluva groovy album…I like the live-feeling of the sound which makes the music more alive, songs like "Superman" and "Souls On Ice" can be put on repeat."
– MELODIC.NET
""Fantazzmo 1: Enter the Fantazz" is a versatile album including several styles of music. "I Know You're Mine"… is a feel-good pop melody allowing Bedolla to show off his impressive vocal chords…it is refreshing to hear an album inspired by all types of music."
-- THE DAILY AZTEC (San Diego State University)
""I Know You’re Mine", an excellent pop rocker, and "Drown Your Lies", a reggae rocker that sounds like the single 311 has been trying to write since their last hit."
– BILL’S MUSIC FORUM
"Opening cut "Superman" is a naughty…funky fusion of Prince, Jimi Hendrix and any number of rap-rockers. "I Know You’re Mine" is a poppy rocker that gives Green Day a run for their money while "Drown Your Lies," "Fear in Me" and a couple other tunes are derived from Britpop and lean toward Oasis."
– CAMPUS CIRCLE
"Set to a whimsical name and manifesto of rock-aimed sexual rebellion, "1: Enter The Fantazz" however features more low-key songs, like the echoed beauty and fretwork efforts of "Eternal Abyss." The acoustic opus "Cancion De La Gitana" finishes the record off nicely, with busy, swiftly plucked fretwork…overall a nice surprise."

Fantazzmo: Embrace the Competition

Fantazzmo:  Embrace the Competition

Is music a competition?

Music itself is not, but the measures of success make it seem so.  Artist A- sold 100 Million cd's; Artist B- sold 10,000  who is more successful?  Who's music is better?  That cannot be discerened from these numbers alone?  Music is a personal choice and the music you listen to is very much a reflection of who you are.

Is being in a band a competition?

Let's keep it real!  Being in a band is a competition.  I buy the best equipment I can afford, team up with the best musicians I can find who are willing to back my vision.  I record the best cd I can with the best producer I can,.  I adorn the cd with the best graphics I can using the best artist I can.  I make the best videos I can afford to make.

Why do all this?  To be seen and heard!  I must compete with 100 Million other musicians to be seen and heard, and if I must spend every penny I have to achieve my true goals I will.  What does the entrepreneur or the independent businessman or the physician looking to start his own practice do?  They put every penny into their goals and visions also. They compete with others in their field as well.

Competition in every aspect of life push us to be better.  In sports, science, school, competing for a promotion at work, etc.  Competition pushes us to do better and it is the same in music.  John Lennon and Paul McCartney had a creative competitive partnership.  One came up with a great song, so did the other.  One came up with a great line or verse, the other came up with a great line or verse, bridge, etc.

With an infinite number of musicians out there competing for your time and attention, I must embrace technology, adapt to change, work hard, be super creative, and constantly reinvent myself and be open to change.

I am competitive by nature.  I always have been, always will be.  In school, sports, work, whatever aspect of life, I have always welcomed a challenge.   Achieving my goals in music with Fantazzmo will be my greatest challenge yet.  There are several new worlds I must master and will.  I will walk among giants.  Fantazzmo will be a giant.
