Fantazzmo: In the Music Business, Distribution is King

Distribution is King in the music industry, He who controls distribution wins. It doesn't matter how good your album is if no one hears it. I believe Fantazzmo 1: Enter the Fantazz is a great album and I know there are at five four bonafide hit singles on there, but I do not have the ability or access to get them on the radio or to invest in a healthy marketing campaign to gain people's attention. A major label does have that capacity.

In order to be on a major radio station, you must be signed to a major label, they control that method of distribution. There is a reason why we are stuck hearing the same old songs on the radio, it is becuase the major labels make money when music from their catalogue is played. How about the new artists that we may or may not like, well, they are obviously signed to a major record label and we are stuck hearing them 20 times a day as well. The major label must recoup its investment on these new acts by making sure they are succesful, so they bombard us with a song 20 times a day because they know that eventually, if we hear it enough, we'll get used to it, or maybe even like it!

The music we hear on TV is also controlled by major labels. You're gonna see and hear the same artists on TV that you do on the radio. There goes that method of distribution. There used to be a great avenue for music via TV, and late night TV, but no more. We are fed the same usual suspects that are on the radio.

If a tree falls in the forest, does it make a sound? Youtube is the greatest thing since the internet! I Love YouTube. On Youtube I can see/hear my music as well as Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Kings of Leon, Muse, Rage Against the Machine, Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Pantera, Van Halen, AC/DC, Iron Maiden...etc, etc, etc....all my heroes! BUT I need to point people to Fantazzmo or we will be like the tree that falls in the forest with no one around.

My heroes were on major labels, they may not have started that way, but they wound up there. My plight along with all other independent artists is to figure out how to point people to my music/videos.

I am a firm believer that great music will prevail. If you build it they will come. Fantazzmo will build a faithful following. How will Fantazzmo earn and gain fans? One by one.
